I’m using an intel i7 PC, with 256 SSD and 32GB of RAM. Since I’m only using an Ubuntu server VM, so no GUI, things are fast. If you need a graphical user interface then maybe you’ll experience some slowdowns.

Now, I have not benchmarked this so I don’t know the minimal configuration. If you can add an SSD to your machine, try that first, don’t change your whole rig.
