I am talking from a developer's perspective. I want to open a terminal, install my libraries and write some code. I do not want to fiddle with everything on my machine. That is not my role. Now, for a DevOps engineer or a system architect WSL 2 might not be enough. But for a Machine Learning Engineer (especially when the GPU support will come) or a front-end engineer WSL 2 is more than enough.
