Do not try to play it smart. Yes, If you have a machine with a single-core GPU and 1GB of RAM, upgrading to an i5 with 8GB of RAM will result in performance gains. But that is not the case today. There will be no noticeable difference between a 3 years old PC with an i5 and 8GB of RAM and a new one with an i7 and 16GB of RAM. Except if you have developer tools open on your browser and measure the timing of requests.

Google docs might be more polished today, but still lacks features that Word has. I briefly mentioned bibliography and equations that are huge to my line of work. If you know any good plug-ins that take care of these in google docs, that are also portable, like EndNote's bibliographies are, please let me know. Really, I'd love to use them.

Finally, let's agree that we disagree, it's not a bad thing.
